Current Projects
Stop by our new office located at 8208 Ohio St. in North Gulfport on the Northeast corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. This beautiful home was donated by Unity Homes and will serve as an office for the Land Trust and a model for Unity Homes who intends to build affordable, energy efficient, healthy modular housing along the coast.

If you are interested in helping the North Gulfport Community Land Trust carry out our mission, how about buying a piece of land in North Gulfport to be held within the Trust forever . Current Land prices in North Gulfport are roughly $4,000-$9,000 per parcel. You can purchase a parcel for the Trust knowing that it will be kept in the hands of the community in perpetuity, and we will build a home on that land for a low or moderate-income family.

At 2806 Monroe St. and 2817 MLK Jr. Blvd. are two new (old) homes recently relocated to North Gulfport. These homes were donated to the North Gulfport Community Land Trust for restoration and sale to local families. We are currently in the process of restoring these two homes, as well as attempting to garner donated materials for their restoration. The more materials we can get donated for the project the cheaper we can sell the homes to two low-moderate-income families. Stop by our office if you are a low or moderate-income buyer and are interested in purchasing one of these homes.

We are currently in the process of finishing the Turkey Creek and North Gulfport Neighborhoods Community Plan. This plan drafted pro bono in 2005 and 2006 was a major accomplishment by these communities. Hundreds of community members participated, city officials were involved and a Plan was drafted that reflected the community's concerns and interests. Finalizing this plan with the same level of community outreach and involvement, the proper maps and development guidelines, and the proper safeguards for community preservation is the ultimate goal of the organizations involved. A draft of existing plan is available on Turkey Creek's Website.
This planning process requires much more community outreach and involvement. The plan will look at how to develop our neighborhood into one that is safe and equitable for community residents while ensuring the protection of our sacred wetlands and determining ways to revitalize our great Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. into one that reflects the great man it was named after.
We are also in the process of a variety of other community-serving activities like getting more great playspaces built in our neighborhood for our children and families, as well as initiating a Martin Luther King Jr. parade.
